There are no rules as to what is or isn't a healthy amount of weight to gain over pregnancy. Most people gain on average 13kg over the 9 months. However, slim people may need to gain more weight, overweight women, less. Weight gain is not spread evenly over the pregnancy; the biggest weight gain usually takes place from 20-36 weeks.
Pregnancy is the biggest transformation that your body will ever undergo. Over this time of great change, it is vital that you pay attention to your nutrition. Eating well not only keeps you healthy; the nutrients that you take in will set your growing baby up for a long and healthy life.
